Elizabeth Held

School: Bryn Mawr College

Year: Senior

Hometown: Niskayuna, New York

College activities: Elections Head for our student government. I’m also a blogger, and a tour Guide. This semester, I’m taking elementary Russian, which isn’t really an activity but I spend so much time in class, it feels like one. Former News Editor of the Bi-College News.

Five reasons you love your school

  1. My friends.
  2. The bi-college consortium. I can take classes at Bryn Mawr or Haverford, and I actually major at Haverford.
  3. My professors. I’ve had a series of fabulous professors who’ve put me on a great path, but not one I ever saw coming. Hence, me taking elementary Russian my senior year.
  4. 5-0 and Fro-Yo. My friends and I started this tradition last year. Every Monday night, we squish into the TV room and watch Hawaii 5-0 and ignore the ever-growing pile of homework.
  5. Our traditions tie our community of students and alumnae together with a sense of shared history.

Jon Stewart vs. Stephen Colbert?

I am a proud member of Colbertnation. Although, I proudly own this shirt and went to the Rally to Restore Sanity last year.

What was the last (non-required) book that you read?

I spent the summer working my way through The Complete Sherlock Holmes. I’m still not done with it, but I’m getting there. I just finished “The Hounds of the Baskervilles,” which is everything a Sherlock Holmes story should be.

What is the most interesting article you’ve ever written?

I wrote a story this summer, while interning at the Gaston Gazette, about a girl who was bitten by a mouse at a restaurant. It was fun to report because it sounded to strange to be true, but there you have it.

One of the most quirky things about you is…

I’m a diehard Yankees fan, but Fever Pitch is one of my favorite movies.
