University of Pennsylvania students have competition running through their veins.
They celebrate their pride for the Red and Blue not just at homecoming against Princeton and during the Penn Relays, but on a daily basis. The atmosphere at Penn brims with school spirit and the colors red and blue are staples in many students’ wardrobe.
Fashion at Penn, with its extensive diversity, ranges from the Ivy League prep attire to urban street wear.
This Fashionisto demonstrates the eclectic combination of these trends — redefining the traditional by adding some edge. By layering a classic blue button-down, collared shirt over a bold striped tank, this Fashionisto blends these two styles adeptly. The tank is laid-back, but the button-down brings an air of professionalism.
This is Penn: Students are social and career-oriented; they exemplify “work hard, play hard.” After studying arduously during the week, Penn students like to unwind.
This outfit can be easily transformed in three ways. The first, shirt buttoned all the way up, is perfect for meetings and other formal settings. The second, pictured, is casual enough for class but also appropriate for speaking with the professor. The third, tank only, is free-spirited and is ideal for relaxing on the Campus Green or hitting it up on the dance floor.
This Fashionisto’s clothing is incredibly versatile, able to be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.
Accessory-wise, he again unites the preppy with the contemporary.
His shoes, polished to the point of being shiny, make him look clean cut and established. Brown leather shoes are trending — on both Main Street and Wall Street. Contrasting that is his casual watch and braided cloth bracelets, thus introducing the modern, hipster vibe. The watch is simple, making this Fashionisto seem effortlessly elegant.
The shoes connect to the button-down, the watch and bracelets to the tank.
These links symbolize what it means to be a Penn student: ambitious and fun.
Penn students do it all — achieving academic highs, participating in world-changing extracurriculars and performing in all sorts of artistic pursuits. They are able to balance this demanding schedule by unwinding at a Starbucks, going out downtown or movie hopping at the local theater.
This Fashionisto embodies all the style at Penn from his bright and stark colors to his fusion of Ivy League and urban. Students at Penn, bursting with school pride, stand apart from the rest because of their ability to accomplish all endeavors while living up to the social Ivy reputation (and they always look good doing it).
