Nicholas Kristof in announces his 2013 win-a-trip contest via this video.
Esteemed New York Times reporter Nicholas Kristof has been taking students on reporting trips to Africa since 2006. To be considered for this year’s trip, American undergraduate and graduate students submit an essay or video (or both) explaining why Kristof should pick them.
In a blog post announcing the annual contest, Kristof explains that “the aim is to generate some interest in global poverty issues both with the contest and with the blogging and videos that the winner will contribute to the New York Times website.”
In keeping with his straightforward style, the two-time Pultizer Prize winner writes that he’s not interested in finding the most polished student writer: “I’m not looking for expertise but for great communication skills so that your blogs and videos will make other students interested in these issues and generate some conversations.”
Deadline for entering is Jan. 18, so time is tight. Will you be entering for a chance to report with Nick?
