Choose an article from today’s paper about an issue or event that you think will one day be considered a historic milestone. (It can be large or small, as long as you think it has some important significance.) Then, imagine you are writing a book about the event. Begin by writing a one-paragraph summary of the event or issue. Next, give the book a title and describe what at least three of the chapters will cover. When finished, trade book titles and summaries with a peer. Identify the historic milestone that he or she chose. Finally, hold a class discussion on the importance of recognizing and documenting (as in book form) events that are taking place right now.
