Previewing and scanning texts are essential skills for comprehension but are often overlooked. Have your students preview and scan the headlines and first few paragraphs of the newspaper each day you get it this week. Then,  on Friday, as a class (perhaps put it up on your interactive white board?) take our new weekly “Test your Smarts” quiz, which assesses students’ knowledge of the week’s big news stories.
