Imagine your family is planning a large party in honor of your next birthday. They’ve told you to pick a special guest speaker for the event. Look through today’s paper and make a list of five people mentioned there whom you’d like to speak at your party. For each, list reasons you think they would be a good choice. Finally, select one person from your list to speak at your party. Write a three-paragraph persuasive paper convincing your parents to spend the money to hire your choice. When finished, have your teacher proofread your work and then submit your paper to the USA TODAY National Gallery of Writing.
