On Wednesday, June 10, James Von Brunn, a known anti-Semite, opened fire at the U.S. Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C. A museum security guard was killed in the shooting. Von Brunn, who is in critical condition at a Washington hospital after being shot by two other security guards, is involved in the white supremacist movement and has written a book entitled, "The ‘Holocaust’ Hoax." Von Brunn’s horrific crime is an example of the intolerance that still exists in the U.S. and around the world.
Many articles have been written about your generation’s remarkable tolerance of people from all cultures and religions. Look through USA TODAY and find an article about intolerance. Then, in small groups, write a letter from your generation to the intolerant group mentioned or alluded to in the article. Advise them on how they can overcome the prejudice that causes so much harm throughout the world.
