In his column on Friday, February 29, USA TODAY founder Al Neuharth asserted that President Obama’s speech to the nation last Tuesday lacked words of hope. Neuharth states, "Obama’s speech was straightforward … Good solid stuff. But not sparkling with words of hope we’ll remember to raise our hopes daily." In short, Neuharth believes that presidents need to be not only chief executives, but also chief cheerleaders.
