When you think of Virginia Tech, a few things instantly come to mind: our dining halls (ranked No. 1 for best food on a public college campus by the Princeton Review), the beautiful campus located in the mountains of southwest Virginia, Hokie football and — and last but not least — our school spirit.
Hokie pride is the basis of fashion on campus. Students don the official colors of Virginia Tech, burnt orange and Chicago maroon, on a daily basis.
From the outside looking in, people find our school color combination to be a bit strange. Before I came to VT, I might have agreed with them.
However, once in Blacksburg it seems as if no color combination could be more perfect. From whacky game day attire to trendy Hokie ensembles, students and alumni alike incorporate the colors into their day-to-day wardrobes.
I chose this Fashionista because she may not be wearing anything that explicitly says, “Virginia Tech,” but her outfit screams Hokie pride in a trendy, put-together way.
She keeps her base layer a neutral white as to not take away from her statement piece — her eye-catching, single-button orange blazer from Tobi. She keeps her look casual by wearing her dressy blazer with True Religion jeans, which helps to balance out the ensemble.
This Fashionista adds more Hokie pride with her long maroon socks, which are great for the colder months. Not only do they look cute but they also come in thicker fabrics that help keep your toes warm for those long treks across campus.
Her brown lace-up boots from Bakers are the perfect finishing touch. The boot’s chunky heel makes them more comfortable to wear than regular high-heeled boots, giving Fashionistas a great option for a long day of class or a tailgate.
Lastly, her gold chain necklace, bracelet and metal pull the whole look together.
This Fashionista’s look shows off her school spirit and also how stylish she can be — perfect for the Fashionista who wants to stand out on game day!
