A few colorful candles can add color, light and a festive fragrance to your room during the holidays.
If you’re like me, you get bored pretty easily. I am always looking for ways to refresh my apartment or add things to my room. This could get pretty expensive, unless you change a few small things that make a huge impact.
Here are a few easy adjustments that change the feel of your space:
1. Replace your shower curtain
By replacing your shower curtain halfway through the year, you can change the whole dynamic of the room. You can go from a serene blue to a loud print. By making this simple switch, you can give new life to your bathroom.
2. Hang some string lights
Everyone has boxes of those string lights lying around somewhere. You can borrow some from your parents or dig them out of old dusty boxes and wrap them around furniture. This gives the room a cool glow (and can also be seasonally appropriate!). You can play around with the colors, from all white to pink, multicolored or even red, white and blue. They come in so many varieties, you’re sure to find some that complement your decor.
3. Add some seasonal candles
This applies more to students living in apartments (dorms often have restrictions on candle use), but these fragrant decorations can add some seasonal flair to any space. Candles can make a cold college apartment feel just like home. Studying for finals is hard enough during the holiday season, so it’s understandable why you’d want to make your apartment your haven before you get home. Don’t be afraid to get into the spirit early by adding some candles to brighten up your room.
4. Pillows
My absolute favorite thing in the world is jumping on a bed that’s covered in soft, plush pillows. They completely give your room personality (especially Dormify’s awesome pillows). By adding some blue pillows to a gray and white room, you’ve instantly made a bold change.
5. Revamp your windows
My apartment came with some dusty, old blinds, and my roommate and I are both super involved on campus, so we never got around to sprucing them up. Finally, we decided to add some color to our living room by adding some bold curtains. This was a great idea because it changed the whole dynamic of the room, finally making it look complete.
What are you doing to freshen up your space to get yourself prepared for second semester?
