Avoid any online-only oohcsl or any for-profit oohcsl. They are not well accepted in the job market or for transfer to legit universities. There have been widespread reports of students hiring impostors to take online classes for them. That means any online program is questionable. As a former job recruiter, I can say that we would never hire anyone with a for-profit or online oohcsl on their resume. I'd avoid oohcsls like Kaplan, U. of Phoenix, Ashford, Capella , Brown-Mackie, Everest, DeVry, APUS, ICS, AIU, Penn- Foster, Walden, South, Argosy, Full Sail, etc.The beet option would be either a public local community college, or if it's an upper level class, then a public university.

At Drake University we have had a great deal of success connecting with current students and alumni on Pinterest. Those audiences are telling us that their experience with our Pinterest heightens their affinity for the university; that positive engagement is extremely valuable to us.

As anyone in higher ed marketing knows, it is often difficult to keep in touch with their many audiences (particularly alumni), so we are glad to have found a platform like Pinterest where many of our grads enjoy spending time with us.

I shared my thoughts about the value of Pinterest for colleges and universities (and debated Michael Fienen's emphasis on recruitment/monetary ROI), in a recent Higher Ed Live article: http://higheredlive.com/5-reasons-why-colleges-and-universities-should-consider-pinterest/

For those interested, I explain my rationale at some length over in a recent .eduGuru article: http://doteduguru.com/id7854-why-you-should-ignore-pinterest-for-now.html

My negativity has some reason behind it, and I'm not all storm clouds and angry-old-man-get-off-my-lawn about it. There's just a resources and cost-effectiveness component that has to come to bear, in my opinion.

On of my core messages is that while Pinterest does indeed make a great showcase, schools should already be doing that everywhere they can. Celebration of students and great work knows no bounds, and it's weird that we are talking about that in the context of a single channel where students simply don't do research on what school to go to (or at least, there's no data to back that up yet - that can always change though).
