Loved the reminders here for anyone who is facing a phone interview. I am an academic who had all phone interviews before being invited to campus. I'll add a few other recommendations that worked for me: 1) Smile and use the same gestures that you would if you were talking in person--this does come across in your voice over the phone; 2) Dress for it--sounds crazy, but your suit will feel more professional than your sweats; and 3) Ask how long you have for the call and, if you can, find out how many questions will be asked. I flubbed this up in one interview, not knowing that there were still five more questions. I learned from it and did actually get invited to an on-campus interview for that one, but still--I wish I'd known so I could have been more succinct. Good luck!
