I didn’t realize that people think “Your college friends are infinitely cooler than your high school ones.” I have some good friends at college that I will keep in touch with but I hope to stay close with my high school friends for much much longer.

For every horrible RA out there in the world, there are another 20 that are amazing. I am always sad to hear that people have bad experiences because I had an amazing RA. That person made me want to be a RA and now I am working as a Hall Director and hope to be a director of housing some day. RAs have a tough job, but it is totally worth it!

I HATED my RA my freshmen year. She was so rude. She picked her favorites and it was obviouce who they were. She had a boyfriend so, we could hear her sex noises alll times of the day. She always came back drunk. She was the worst ever.

I had the worst RA possible for my freshman year. He was a friendless scrooge with a long-term girlfriend who was studying abroad for a year so he had NOTHING to do but annoy us. When my friends had their computers stolen out of their rooms while taking a shower he laughed and said better luck next time.

So my advice for freshman would be to respect your RA but to know their not your mother.

And as far as dating someone in your hall goes my boyfriend and I were on the same floor freshman year, but we refrained from dating until April and we’re still going strong. My parents also were on the same floor in college and they’ve been married for 21 years so success stories do happen.
